FAQs for AgenaTrader V 1.9
Q: WHERE DO I FIND THE NON-TIME-BASED CHARTS (HEIKIN ASHI, RENKI, KAGI, ETC.)?
A: The NTB charts have been completely overhauled in V1.9 and are now available as a separate data series. This is why you can now find these styles under the timeframes. In the chart menu bar, click on the current timeframe and select “Custom Parameters” in the drop-down menu. In the following window, you can now select the desired chart style under “Periodicity”.
Q: I AM NOT GETTING A CONNECTION TO MY IB DEMO ACCOUNT, WHAT CAN I DO?
A: At the moment, you still have to convert the port in order for the connection to be established. In the connection settings for your IB demo account, please increase the port by +1 to “7497”. For live accounts, use the standard port “7496”.
Q: HOW CAN I CONNECT AGENANOTIFIER TO MY AGENATRADER?
A: First download the “AgenaTrader Notifier” from the GooglePlayStore, open the app and click on the 3 small vertical points in the top right. Select “Send Device Token” and enter your email address. Your personal identification key will now be sent to your email address. As soon as you have received the key by email, go to AgenaTrader and open the ConfigurationEscort -> Alerts -> Notifier. Here, activate “Android” and then copy your key into the field below.
Q: HOW CAN I HAVE NOTIFICATIONS SENT TO MY NOTIFIER?
A: In the ConfigurationEscort under Alerts -> General, you have the possibility to activate the checkbox for Mobile for the following options: price alerts, time alerts, indicator alerts, connection failures. Beneath this selection, you also have the option “Send Mobile Notif. On Order Execution”. Activate this box to receive a notification on your Android device for each execution of one of your orders.
You can also be notified about entry signals. For this, open the SetupEscort and select the Parameters tab. For each available EntryEscort, in the settings, you have the option “SendMobileNotification”. Set this option to “True” in order to receive a notification in the Notifier each time this signal occurs.
Q: WHERE DO I FIND THE IMPORT OF THE INSTRUMENT LISTS IN THE NEW MAPPING PROCESS?
A: Open the mapping window, and at the very top of the window, switch to the tab “Inst.Lists (General)” or “Inst.Lists (Broker)” and select the lists that you would like to import. With a click on Import Instrument Lists, the respective lists are loaded into your AgenaTrader.
Q: WHAT DOES THE NEW SETTING “STOPDEVIATIONTICKS” IN THE PARAMETER TAB OF THE SETUP ESCORT MEAN?
A: This option is available for every StopEscort and determines the degree of the technical “fuzziness” with which you would like to carry out your stops. Here you can enter the number of ticks that the stop should be placed above or below the technically precise position.
Example: for a long trade, the BarByBar stop is trailed behind exactly at the lows of the individual candles. If you now enter a StopDeviationTicks of “10”, the stop is no longer trailed behind exactly at the low of the candles, but 10 ticks below.
Q: HOW DO I INTERPRET THE NEW STATUS INDICATORS FOR SYSTEM AND INTERNET?
A: The two visual displays transition continuously between light green and red, whereby light green stands for “all in excellent order”, while red indicates a problem.
The system indicator constantly monitors the state of your system; what is measured here is whether the RAM or CPU capacity have reached their limits, and also whether AgenaTrader is giving out error messages. If the system indicator is red, you can find out more about the errors that have occurred in the AgenaTrader log (open this via Tools -> System Information -> Log).
Q: HOW CAN I HAVE AN EVENT FROM THE FINANCIAL CALENDAR DISPLAYED DIRECTLY IN THE CHART?
A: In the financial calendar, you can create a time alert for a future economic event by right-clicking on it. In the lower part of the following window, you have the “Chart Options”. If you activate the option “Show” here, a vertical line with a corresponding reference text is inserted into the chart for the respective instruments in the chart. The marking is placed exactly at the point in time in the chart at which this news is announced, ensuring that you no longer overlook any important news during your trading.
Q: WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE DISPLAYS (DIRECT) AND (PROCESSED) IN MY CHARTS?
A: Direct means that your data feed delivers this chart data directly as a data series. Processed means that AgenaTrader has calculated this chart from, for example, tick data. The tick chart, therefore, will be displayed as (Direct) when your data feed is delivering tick data. AgenaTrader receives tick-by-tick and outputs this data directly. The Renko chart is shown as (Processed), since naturally, the data feed does not deliver the Renko data directly, which means that AgenaTrader has to calculate this chart display.
So what it is all about is a little extra info for you, and it can be especially important for the support team.
Q: HOW CAN I ASSIGN MY CONDITIONS TO CATEGORIES?
A: When you create a condition in the ConditionEscort, you can assign each of your conditions to a category at the top right under “Category”, in order to not lose track.
When you now select “StrategyHandling -> Condition Escort” in the main menu bar, your conditions will appear sorted by category. And if you would like to insert a condition into a chart, the conditions are also shown sorted according to category.
Q: HOW DO I USE THE “SUBMIT CORRECT MAPPING” BUTTON CORRECTLY?
A: In the InstrumentEscort, starting immediately, you have the possibility to directly make a complaint about an erroneous mapping using the “Feedback” button. A click on this button opens a text editor; here, please enter in short keywords what the problem is, e.g. “Chart not being loaded”. If you already have an idea of what the cause for this is, or if you already suspect what the mapping should look like when correct, please also share this with us. When you click on send, your message is sent to our developers; in addition, all details about your mapping of this instrument are also sent to our developers, which means that you do not have to provide any more detailed descriptions of this in your message.
Q: WHAT DO THE DIFFERENT BACKGROUND COLORS OF THE MESSAGES IN THE LOG MEAN?
A: No background color = a purely informative message
Light blue = a warning; however, it does not imply an error
Red = an error has occurred, and the system indicator will turn red too.
Q: HOW CAN I HAVE THE TRADING HOURS, EXCHANGES, SECTORS, MARGINS ETC. FOR EACH INSTRUMENT DISPLAYED IN AN INSTRUMENT LIST?
A: In an instrument list, you can now add a column “Instrument Property”; this can be selected under “Information” in the column settings.
In the settings for the Instrument Property you can now select which details should be displayed. Available details are: ISIN, Name, InstrumentType, Exchange, Currency, Margin, TickSize, PointValue, DefaultOrderSize, HistoricalLayers, Expiry, MainSector, DetailSector, TradingHours.
