Download and installation

If you do not yet have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 installed on your computer then you can download Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 and install it by yourself.

Recommendations for installing the AgenaTrader software:

1. Download and install AgenaTrader.

2. License key.

  • AgenaTrader is available as 30 days trial version with all features of the Andromeda version including the Dow Theory Standard package. Request this trial via our homepage and filling out the request form. Get our trial here.
  • Within a few minutes a license key will be sent to you via email (please check your junk/spam filter) but in some situations this may also take up to 24 hours.
  • With a valid license key you are able to use AgenaTrader and AgenaTrader++ in their full range of functions for a further 30 days.
  • After expiration of this deadline you will be asked to purchase the AgenaTrader software using our webshop. If you decline the purchase, the functionality, including the ability to send orders to the markets, will expire.


3. Firewall / Antivirus program

Upon application start-up, AgenaTrader will prompt you to validate the license key by contacting our license servers. Please make sure that your firewall and/or spyware programs allow the connection, otherwise you may receive a "license key expired" message and the usage of the software will be limited to that of the free license key.

As soon as the installation is complete, please read the appropriate Connection Guide to establish a connection to your broker or data feed service provider.

4. TCP ports used by AgenaTrader. For properly AgenaTrader work, they should not be used by any other application:

7778: Main AgenaTrader service, licensing.
7779: Connection to instrument database.
7780:  Service dedicated for sending Support User Data.

Clear Browser Cache

If you wish to download a new version of AgenaTrader or upgrade an existing version you may be required to empty your browser cache.
Errors involving temporal files and other erroneous files, known as "Cabinet File Errors", may occur whilst installing or upgrading.

Should one of these errors occur, please carry out the following steps:

  • Open your browser
  • Delete the browser history and cache
  • Attempt the download once more

If this still does not solve the issue, please attempt the download with another Web browser (Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc).
