Strategy Escort tab
The Strategy Escort allows you to start and manage your strategies independently from the charts. This enables the user to run several strategies simultaneously
AgenaTrader is highly resource-efficient, meaning that your running strategies operate very efficiently.
The active strategies can be reviewed and managed within the Strategy Escort.
The Strategy manager tab contains the following columns:

Strategy parameters:
Name | Meaning |
---|---|
Caption | Displays a strategy's technical description. You can change these settings if required. For example, to display a shorter name for the strategy (MMR instead of MakeMeRichStrategy) input the following information: MakeMeRichStrategy -> MMR.++ |
Required bars count | Defines the number of periods after which the strategy will be calculated (adjusted). For example, SMA requires at least 20 periods (bars) to correctly calculate the moving average and consequently formulate accurate conclusions for the strategy calculation. It is especially important for the backtesting. |
Input Series | Allows you to select data series for strategy calculation. The standard setting is "close", which means that the strategy will be calculated based on the closing prices of a specific period. |
Time-Frame | Set time frames for the strategy. |
Session | This parameter allows user to select Analyzer Escort session |
Trading Options | If true, strategy will work for option trading |
Close Trades on Stop | Means that strategy stop will close all running orders which are running under the strategy, |
Is to recover | If true, strategies are saved, even if they do not have active trades or orders. |
Log Orders | If true, all placed orders will be saved in the Log. |
Time in force | Display how long order will be enabled in system unless it is executed (GTC - good till canceled; Day - enable for 1 day, GTD - good till date, IOC - immediate or cancel) |
After clicking the Select button, the instrument or several instruments from the instrument list will be adopted by the Strategy Escort with the previously selected strategy.
- Stop: allows to stop (i.e. delete) one or several strategies, right click on the cell in the strategy manager tab and select the Stop option.
If a strategy is currently managing confirmed orders or running trades, the query box will ask you to confirm that you really wish to stop the chosen strategy.
- Show PL Percent: dosplays the profit / loss in the Strategy Escort in percent
- Export to MS Excel: allows to save the rows from the Strategy Escort in a CSV file
- Connect with Chart: activates the connection to a single chart or single chart group. Once activated, move the mouse to a single chart or single chart group. The mouse indicator will change to a rectangle with an arrow. Click in the charting area again to connect the rows of the Strategy Escort to the chart (single chart or single chart group).
To load the chart, left click on the appropriate instruments in the Strategy Escort.
The Strategy Escort shows two types of strategies:
- Fully automated programmed strategies: these strategies must be explicitly started or stopped for an instrument or multiple instruments (e.g. from the Chart or the Strategy Escort).
- Semi-automated AgenaTrader++ strategies: the entries of these strategies are handled discretionarily and are managed by the trade management.
Relationship between a list chart group and the Strategy Escort
(this pertains to semi-automated AT++ strategies)
The Analyzer Escort column displays signals (signals are not strategies) that are driven by real-time events. If a signal-based AgenaTrader++ setup (necessary settings can be made in the Setup Escort is activated and executed, then the strategy takes over to control your position.
If you click on an instrument from the list chart group when AgenaTrader++ is activated, then the corresponding row will be displayed in the Strategy Escort (though no trade will take place yet).
Once you have entered a position (for example, short EURCAD) then the strategy will become active and start to manage your position. If you continue clicking within the list chart group you will see that the strategy is activated to manage the opened position. This applies to currently active trades as well as confirmed orders (not proposal orders) in the chart. In these cases the strategy shifts to the strategy manager and receives the status "Background".
Relationship between a tab chart group and the Strategy Escort
(this pertains to semi-automated AT++ strategies)
If you want the strategy for one or all instruments in the tab chart group to start as soon as AgenaTrader++ is opened, check the Tab Chart Group Autosynchronization checkbox in the Configuration Escort -> General -> Configuration Escort: Chart.
If the Tab Chart Group Autosynchronization is not selected, then AT++ must be manually opened/closed for every instrument (the same applies to single chart groups and single charts).
